Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar Johor

Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque is situated at Jalan Abu bakar, Johor Baru overlooking the Straits of Johor. The foundation stone of the museum was laid by Sultan Abu Bakar in 1892 but he never lived to see the museum completed as he passed away three years later. This mosque is the biggest mosque in Johor and was built under the instruction of two local engineers, that is Datuk Yahya Awaluddin and the supervisory work was carried out by Batwip Mohd Arif. The cost of building the museum was RM 400,000.

Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar was officially opened on 2 February 1900 by Sultan Ibrahim. The mosque is square in shape and is based on the Islamic architecture.
